Exergen TemporalScanner {Review & Giveaway}

The Exergen TemporalScanner is an infrared thermometer that captures temperature by scanning the heat that comes off a person’s forehead via the temporal artery. It is non-invasive, easy-to-use, quick and extremely accurate.

While almost 50 percent of hospitals and pediatricians are using this new thermometer, I hadn’t even heard of it before I received the opportunity to review it! Had I seen the TemporalScanner in action I’m certain I would have purchased it long ago. I am frequently taking the temperature of my boys because of one sickness or another and I’ve been frustrated with my current ear thermometer. Since Lucian was born two years ago we’ve had two different ear thermometers. The latest cost $50 and with the higher price tag we thought we’d get accurate results easily. Unfortunately that hasn’t been the case. I feel like I’m jamming it in my sons’ ears and the temperature can be as much as 1 degree different each time I take it. I know from using it myself it is very uncomfortable and when your little one is sick the last thing you want to do is make your him more uncomfortable.

I’ve found the Exergen TemporalScanner to be painless and easy to use. Lucian asks me to take his temperature and enjoys trying to take his own! It is nice to know if I need to take a temperature when my child is sleeping, I can do it without disturbing him. I also like how quick it is. Only 2 seconds to get results!

Improvement Suggestions: It can be tricky at first to learn the proper technique to take the temperature. I still take my child’s temperature multiple times and settle on the highest temperature that I get. Most of the time it only varies a .1 to .4 degree, not a full degree or more so it isn’t a a huge concern.

Want a chance to try it out yourself? Exergen would like to give one my readers their own TemporalScanner!

    I learned that they're more accurate than the ear thermometers. I currently have an ear thermometer and don't use it because I always thought it was so inaccurate. I'd love to try one of these. Plus I like that they can take the temp so quickly and non-invasively.

    Thanks!

    I'd like to win this because my younger son is autistic, with "sensory defensiveness" issues — you aren't going to manage any intrusive measurements without a LOT of sweat and tears, so being able to use this while he sleeps sounds like heaven!

    I would love to win because it is incredibly fast and accurate. If one of my children has a fever and they are crying or don't feel good then this would be perfect. Most of the time they don't want to wait until the thermometer is ready with a reading.
