With the start of the new school year, now is the perfect time to start thinking about how to protect our children (as best we can) from the spread of germs both at home and in the classroom. Lysol wants your children to have the healthiest school year possible and is offering both expert advice and products you help you out!
The Lysol brand has teamed up with Dr. Laura Jana, a pediatrician, mother of three school aged-children and owner of an educational daycare center. She would like to share her back to school checklist with moms to help them prepare their children for a healthy and happy school year. Her tips include:
- The Health administration is predicting a very serious cold and flu season, so teach your children about healthy hygiene habits before they go back to school and get exposed to classroom germs, like MRSA or H1N1 virus. Check out the new educational Web Site for kids, developed in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), at www.oopkids.com. This kid-friendly Web site is designed to educate children about healthy hygiene habits and safety routines.
– This Web site is an expansion from an existing health campaign with the CDC – Ounce of Prevention.
- Send school germs packing by encouraging your children to drop their book bags, take off their shoes and leave their coats at the door when they walk in. Send them straight to the sink to wash their hands for at least 20 seconds (long enough to sing Happy Birthday twice!) while you spray their bags with Lysol Disinfectant Spray to help kill bacteria they may have picked up from the school bus, the playground or the classroom.
– Lysol Disinfectant Spray effectively kills 99.9% of bacteria on soft surfaces, including the family couch! (Press release available upon request)
– For more information, check out the Lysol Back to School Information Center.
I love using Lysol Disinfectant Spray in the nursery, especially to spray down the diaper pail. The spray works great for virtually everywhere and is ideal for high traffic items like door knobs, garbage pails, backpacks, pillows, and of course toys! It kills 99.9% of ill causing bacteria on soft surfaces. It also helps control mold and mildew so don’t hesitate to use it on your shower curtain. I love how easy it is to quickly spray but still kill germs!
And for easy disinfecting on the go, try out Lysol Disinfectant Spray To Go. How great would this be for a public bathroom stall or for a diaper changing station?
Lysol Disinfecting Wipes 4in1 with Micro Lock work great to quickly clean and disinfect surfaces. I love using these in my bathroom, kitchen and on anything that attracts a lot of germs like appliance handles and light switches. I like that they are disposable and no mess yet still kill 99.9% of germs! They are so easy to keep in the under the sink in the bathroom or kitchen for a super quick clean up!

I learned that sterilants, disinfectants and sanitizers are used to kill most germs on surfaces. Antiseptics are used to kill germs on the skin.
With 4 kids and 1 grand child in the house I have to constantly clean doorknobs, sink handles, even the phones to help prevent the spread of germs. Pulling put a bottle of cleanser and paper towels can be a giant pain so I started using the wipes for those quick jobs, makes it sooo much easier!
The wipes are great to have around the house to remind everyone to clean up with the flu season coming up…..
I would sanitize surfaces frequently to fight colds and flu this season.
I am scheduled to have a C-section in 10 days, so having a newborn and then my son is allergic to eggs and cannot get a flu shot, makes sanitizing a MUST for our family. I don’t want either of my boys getting sick, so this would help me to be on top of everything and to ensure I did my best to keep nasty germs at bay. Thanks for the giveaway!

Q: What is Influenza A H1N1?
A: According to the CDC, Influenza A H1N1 is a respiratory disease typically found in pigs that is caused by type A influenza viruses. While it is not typical for humans to contract Influenza A H1N1, human infections occasionally do happen.

I use lysol in the kitchen to wipe down the table and counters, in the bathroom to wipe all surfaces and in the baby’s room to clean her changing table. I think lysol needs to come up with a pouch moms could keep in their diaper bag so that you have it when you go to stores to wipe down carts or surfaces your baby might touch that could be germy.
I went to the germ info center and learned that that 22 million school days are lost every year to the common cold. That is alot!

Thank you for the chance to win.
Viruses cause colds, flu, most sore throats and bronchitis and antibiotics do not help fight viruses. Plus, taking antibiotics when you have a virus may do more harm than good, because this then produces antibiotic resistant “super-bugs”. So don’t insist that your doctor give you antibiotics when you are sick!

At least twice a week, I spray down all of the door handles and knobs in our house. I learned this from working at day care center when I was a teennager and we did it every afternoon after the kids left. I teach piano so I also want to start spraying down the piano keys between students when the flu season gets more prevalent. That’s what I would use these for.
We use Lysol Disinfecting Wipes all the time…I love to keep a canister especially in my children’s bathroom. It’s a rule in our house that they must wipe down the counters & mirror & toilet handle to get rid of germs!

With a new baby in the house and a cat, I can use all the help I can get (and not to mention my germ-unconcious husband) The last thing I want this year is a sick baby. he disinfectant spray would be perfect for our tables, and on the go at restaurants and malls. And the wipes are good for all over! We have enough things we touch and get gross on a daily basis that all the cleaning supplies we can get are a big help!
I would use the Lysol wipes to clean my kitchen counters. We actually tried the Lysol dual action wipes (link below) and I love them! I missed a spot of coconut oil that solidified after I made fried eggs one morning and when I went to wipe it with the scrubby side of the wipe, it came right up. It’s also helped with some sticky messes that my 18 month has made. These are great for moms!

Actually, right now, I carry a small baggie of Lysol wipes in my purse to wipe down carts at the store. They’re so germ ridden and I don’t trust the wipes they have there, if they even have them. I know I can trust Lysol to kill the germs!
I would use these products to sanitize after preparing meals. I also would use the spray to go in my car.
I learned that The World Health Organization has raised the pandemic alert level for influenza A (H1N1) from 5 to 6. Lets start washing our hands people!
