Not Me! Monday – #26

I love Not Me! Monday created by My Charming Kids so I’ll take this time to reflect on what I did not do this past week. Please take a moment to visit MckMama’s blog and check out what she has not been up to this past week!

I did not take both my boys to the furniture store to look at couches but mainly because I knew my kiddos would love to ride in the double seated fire engine and stroll around the store. I didn’t make the mistake of thinking that because my newly potty trained son Lucian hadn’t had any accidents for a few days (except with #2 but he had already gone that day) that he was ready to go out in public with only underwear on. After being in the store a little while I didn’t ask Lucian if he had to go potty and he didn’t emphatically say yes. So I didn’t rush him through the store to find the bathrooms only to discover when we got there he had already gone. And it was leaking off the seat and through the bottom of the fire engine. I wasn’t stuck wondering where the pee ended up since I covered most of the store while finding the bathroom. (So sorry!) Since I had promised them each a cookie and lemonade in the cookie bake shop (free!) I didn’t let him sit in his soaked pants while I quickly tried to fulfill that promise. (I had our diaper bag in the van but not with me in the store.) As we started to leave the cookie area and I had grabbed a napkins & water to clean the fire engine I saw a puddle. A fairly large puddle on the tile floor where the fire engine used to be. Yep, Lucian did NOT pee yet again! So I wasn’t on my hands and knees cleaning all this up. I didn’t try to get out of there as fast as I could and shield my poor soaked son while I carried his younger brother. He didn’t walk out with his legs spread apart to avoid the wetness and I didn’t feel absolutely horrible about not being able to clean up our mess entirely.

I didn’t decide that keeping some Clorox clean wipes in our bathroom would be a good idea. I hadn’t thought it would be handy to quickly deal with any little messes my son created. I wasn’t sitting there one day looking at the back of the package and read the warning that it is not meant for sanitary purposes and not to use it for a diaper wipe or for personal use. I didn’t think to myself, who would be dumb enough to do that? Flash forward to Friday night. It was late, I was tired, and grabbed out of our son’s Kandoo wipes to freshen up. I didn’t almost immediately realize it was was a CLOROX disinfecting wipe I had started to use. (Thankfully there were no effects of using it..) I then thought to myself, apparently I’M DUMB ENOUGH!

Note to all handbag lovers (like myself), DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT decide that your purse is a good place to quickly place an apricot apple sauce cup and then forget about it for a week. Because I didn’t do this and I didn’t discover after a trip to Target about a week later that my bag was strangely wet on the bottom right hand side. This cup was not punctured by something and leaking sweat sauce all over my bag and contents thereof. If you do you might spend a night wiping and airing out all kinds of goodies from your bag which are now sticky. Good thing I didn’t do this because it doesn’t sound like fun!

Moms do have a time, sometimes…I don’t think there’s a mom out there who hasn’t experienced a mess with their kids in public–or a mess in their purse! LOL Thanks for the weekly dose of Not Me, Monday! Kathy

my good friend was just writing about trying to potty train her son and he peed in their walmart shopping cart all over the items she was getting ready to buy. You are not alone! Oh, and the applesauce thing, been there, done that, only with baby food.
