Yummy Tailgating with Frito Lay! {Giveaway}
Frito Lay can make game day extra fun by providing you and your guests with the necessary sustenance to root for your team. My house usually has plenty of hoots and hollers and we all need a little pick me at half time! While you might not think of extra healthy eating when you think of Frito Lay, you can usually find ways to trim down the fat and calories by substituting healthier ingredients.
I decided to go with a true favorite of my entire family and make my mom’s taco dip. It is fast, easy, oh so yummy and came in very handy for the Monday night showdown this week between the Minnesota Vikings (my team!) and the Green Bay Packers! The victory may have been sweet but the treats were salty.
Taco Dip
8 oz cream cheese, softened
8 oz sour cream
1 packet of Taco Seasoning
1/2 cup salsa
2 cups shredded cheese
1 medium tomato, chopped
1 cup chopped lettuce
green onion (optional)
black olives (optional)
Mix the sour cream and seasoning together, then add softened cream cheese and mix until creamy. Layer ingredients with cream cheese mixture on bottom, then salsa, lettuce, tomato, green onion and olives (if desired) and top with cheese. Chill for one hour or more. Serve with Tostitos Tortilla Chips and/or Fritos Corn Chips.
Better- For-You Options:
- Fat Free or Lite Sour Cream
- Lite Cream Cheese
- Fat Free Shredded Cheese
Feel free to change the topping amounts to suit your tastes. I don’t really measure but just eyeball it!

We love making a dip as follows and we use the original frito chips to dip.
In a 9″ pie plate, layer in this order.
8 oz softened cream cheese spread on bottom of dish,
top with 1 can refried beads,
top with 1 jar mild salsa and
top with 1-8oz bag of shredded cheddar cheese.
Right before serving, microwave for 5 minutes, until cheese ontop is melted.
This dip is always a hit. thanks.

I like to make a Fiesta Party Dip using 1-2 Tablespoons Fiesta Party Dip Mix (by Tastefully Simple), 1/4 cup mayonnaise and 3/4 cup sour cream. (I’ve made a healthier version using low fat sour cream and mayonnaise.) Then I like to serve it with LAY’S Wavy Original Potato Chips. I’m sure it would be good with Baked Lays too!

Chilli and Cheese on Fritos scoops baked in the oven. Essentially they are corn chip nachos. Healthier? I put shredded lettuce and tomato slices on top. Whaddaya want from healthy? I am a guy!
A fave with hubby is to take your favorite salsa and pour it over a block of cream cheese. Dig in with the Fritos. I use no fat cream cheese and baked Tostitos.
This is one of my mother’s recipes…..
Take a brick of cream cheese (to lighten the recipe I use 1/3rd less fat cream cheese)
Then take cocktail sauce and small frozen shrimp (thawed) and mix them with a spritz of fresh lemon juice.
Pour the shrimp cocktail on top of the brick of cream cheese and serve with Fritoes or Tostitoes

Frito Pie
I make this healthier by using low-fat cheese and serving with salsa, which is always lo-cal.
3 cups Fritos corn chips
3/4 cup chopped onion
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
2-1/2 cups chili (your favorite — homemade, canned, whatever)
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Spread 2 cups of Fritos in a baking dish. Sprinkle half the onion and half the cheese over the Fritos. Pour the chili over the onion and cheese. Sprinkle the remaining Fritos, onion and cheese over the chili.
Bake for 15 or 20 minutes and cheese is bubbly. Serve hot

I have an open-face “taco bar” and use Tostitos Scoops instead of taco shells. I drain and rinse my meat before adding the taco seasonings; use low fat or fat free sour cream; low fat cheese; and make sure there are lots of fresh veggie and bean options for toppings! You could also use ground turkey (or 1/2 and 1/2 ground beef) for your taco mix.
I take a container of low fat cottage and mix in 1/4 cup low fat mayo and a few teaspoons of dry ranch dressing–to taste -serve with baked tortilla chips
we make nachos with the scoop chips , seasoned ground sirlon, cheese salsa and sour cream, yummy
We get the bigger Frito and use them in nachos. Spread a layer of fritos on a plate, Brown ground beef, add taco seasoning, mix in salsa spread over fritos, add sour cream on top enjoy.

I make a party mix with soy sauce, hot sauce, worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, garlic salt, butter, chow mein noodles, pretzels, rice chex cereal, peanuts, almonds and Frito Lay corn chips. I mix the liquid ingredients and spices with about 1/2 stick of butter, pour over dry ingredients and bake at 200 for about an hour- yum yum! It is a pretty low fat dish and you could probably (although I haven’t tried it) use non stick cooking spray in place of the butter.

One of my favorite tailgating recipes is Texas Caviar. It’s so quick and easy, since it’s no-cook and made up of mostly prepared ingredients. You can always use fresh instead of canned, but good-quality, organic canned ingredients are just as good!
1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained
1 can (15 oz) black-eyed peas, drained
1 can (15 oz) pinto beans, drained
1 can (15 oz) yellow or white corn, drained
1 can (4 oz) green chilies, drained
1 jalapeno, seeded and finely chopped
1 green pepper, seeded and finely chopped
1 red onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/3 cup chopped fresh cilantro
1/3 cup good olive oil
1/3 cup vinegar of preference (I use rice vinegar)
2 tablespoons white sugar (or more, depending on sweetness of vinegar)
Mix the beans, corn, chilies, peppers, onion, garlic, and cilantro together in a large bowl. Whisk olive oil, vinegar, and sugar together in a separate bowl. Pour oil and vinegar mixture over other ingredients and toss. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours, over night is best. Make sure you serve with Fritos or Tostitos Scoops, it’s a chunky dip!

My favorite is the basic Ro-tel and Velveeta cheese dip recipe. My son-in-law likes it with browned hamburger meat added, but I like it better without. Either way it’s yummy with Fritos.
This is great with Tostidos scoop chips!
1lb hamburger meat
1- can refried beans
1- taco seasoning
1- Campbell’s Fiesta Cheese Soup
Brown meat, drain. Add taco seasoning.. follow directions on envelope. Then add refried beans and fiesta cheese soup! Can also top with shredded cheese, tomatoes, lettuce if desired! So quick, easy and yummy!
You can use low-fat sour cream and cheese to make it healthier. The beans I use are fat free so that’s great!
It’s an odd thing, I know, but my family (except for hubby who thinks it’s gross) likes to put BBQ Frito Lays on our subs. It’s stunningly delicious. We make it healthier by using mustard instead of mayo.

Our favorite recipe that we use for almost every get together is chili dip, all you do is take a block of cream cheese and put it in a microwavable bowl with a can of Hormel chili, melt it together and then we use Fritos Scoops to eat it up. It is soooooo good and sooooo easy.

We make Chili dogs with Fritos on top. Healthy no but I also have a vegetable tray.
Frito Pie however the only way to add my healthy touch is to add lettuce

Tailgate Skinny Dip
1 eight ounce package fat free cream cheese
1 half cup fat free sour cream
1 tablespoon curry powder
1 fourth cup finely chopped green onion (white part only)
1 fourth cup finely chopped green bell pepper
1 cup mango chutney
Mix all ingredients except chutney thoroughly. Spoon into shallow serving dish. Smooth top and spread on chutney to edges. Serve with vegetable strips and/or low fat crackers. Serves 4-6.
I fill Tostito Scoops with fresh homemade guacamole made with organic avocados and a little chunk of fresh grilled chicken in each. Just a few of them are filling and it’s healthier than endlessly dipping chips into dip.
Our favorite game dip is chili cheese dip with Tostitos Scoops.

I like good old avocados smashed up for guacamole!

I love dipping Fritos into my homemade chili. We also enjoy a taco dip very similar to yours. If I buy the Frito Scoops many of our guests enjoy using those rather than tortilla chips for Velveeta Dip.
My favorite (super easy) recipe is a dip! Mix a cup of low-fat sour cream with 1 cup of tostito’s salsa (i like the medium). I add a teaspoon of cumin and a teaspoon of chili powder.
Dip with tostito’s tortilla chips or baked tortilla chips!
I make it healthier by using low-fat sour cream and using baked chips!
For game days this is my party tradition and everyone loves it.
When I make chili I put frito lays in the bottom of the bowls then add
the hot chili on top. It softens the frito up and then you mix it up.
Then add a dollop of sour cream.
Easy Black Bean Dip
•1 15-ounce can black beans, drained and rinsed
•1/2 cup Tostito’s Salsa
•1/4 cup plain fat free Greek-style yogurt
•1/4 tsp cumin
•2 tbsp chopped fresh onion
Prep:
Place drained black beans and salsa in a blender and puree until smooth. Spoon dip into a bowl. Stir in yogurt, cumin and onion.
Use different types of salsa and spices to create your own version.
Serve with Tostito’s Scoops
Chips and salsa. I make it heathy buy buying blue chips and using fresh salsa.

I make a queso dip using light Velveeta and lean ground beef.
OMG that dip looks SO good, I’m starving!!!! I usually buy Fritos, Lays plain, and Lays sour cream & onion, and Doritos and make a plain old ranch dip or a fiesta (spicey ranch dip) for football games. is game food supposed to be healthy? I must have missed that memo. I suppose portioning would be healthier than eating the whole bag. lol
1 pound lean ground beef
2 (10.75-ounce) cans condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 (12-ounce) can evaporated milk
1 cup (8 ounces) enchilada sauce
1 packet dry onion soup mix
1 (16-ounce) package Frito corn chips
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1. Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
2. In a large skillet brown ground beef; drain. Add mushroom soup, evaporated milk, enchilada sauce and dry onion soup mix; stir well.
3. Spoon half in a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish followed with half of the corn chips. Repeat layers then top with cheddar cheese.
4. Bake for 30 minutes

I buy Fritos and then get frito bean dip and mix it with my own homemade low fat dip. Works great and you can’t taste teh difference!
I use TOSTITOS Crispy Rounds Tortilla Chips to make nachos and I substitute Morningstar Grillers Recipe Crumbles for ground beef
My husband makes a dip with chili, Velveeta, and smoked sausage that’s really good. We eat it with Tostitos chips.
I love Fritos with homemade chili! If we want to lighten it up, I’ll use ground turkey instead of beef.
I love Fritos with Spinach and Artichoke cheese dip..It would take a while to write the recipe, and it belongs to Emeril anyway. It is a fantastic Spinach and Artichoke dip and the veggies & cheese are healthy..

I buy a yummy black corn salsa, fry up some 97% lean chop meat, add some pink kidney beans, corn & fresh cilantro, mix it all together and either use fritos scoops or the tostado cups and for the cheese lovers top with a fresh shredded lowfat chedder.

I mix cooked chicken breast, tomatoes, avocado, onions, 2% chedder cheese, black olives, red pepper, drained kidney beans, lettuce, fritos, and salsa for a great taco salad.
Mmm… I love Fritos with buffalo chicken dip or Skyline Chili Dip (you know what I’m talking about if you’ve ever been to Cincinnati!). I try to make it healthier by the kinds of cream cheese/shredded cheese/sour cream I use, choosing reduced fat, etc.

Buffalo chicken dip is awesome! Melt 8 oz. of cream cheese, add 1/2 cup of hot sauce, 1 cup of shredded cheese and diced chicken! I make it healthier by using grilled chicken and low-fat cheese! The Frito-Lay cheese is the one we always shoot for, because it’s the best!
This is so cute i love it!!!

With bean dip and cheese
I used reduced fat products in this recipe and it’s really yummy:
Mix a packet of taco seasoning with a can of refried beans and spread in a pie plate. Spread one cup of salsa over the beans and then cover with a small container of sour cream followed by an 8 oz package of shredded cheese. Sprinkle top with chopped tomatoes and green onions. Use Fritos Scopps to scoop up and enjoy the dip!
