Aloha Friday ~ #16

AlohaFriday1

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

What is the longest period of time you have been away from your kids?

Up until this point I had been away twice in my 3 year old’s lifetime, both about 36 hours. So I am struggling with my son being in Texas with his grandparents while I am still in Minnesota with my youngest.  It is hard and my days just seem so quiet without him. I know he is having a blast and so far is doing very well being away from home so that makes it easier but I just really miss him.

Now it is your turn to share!

I am unfortunately away from my son for a 5 day stretch every other week b/c of joint custody arrangements. I wish I could change this but it would require a lot of $$ that I don’t have.

My oldest is 6 and has been to my parent’s house several times. My little guy has been with me practically 24/7 for almost 2 1/2 years now. My first trip away from him is scheduled for August when I go to BlogHer ’10 with hubby. Of course, there may be something as a trial run before that.

About 5 days. This summer we dropped them off at my parent’s house so we could have a staycation.

Twice in the last year I was in the hospital for a month (each time) — it was the worst time not just because I was so sick but because I missed my kids so much. The first time I was so sick they couldn’t even come to visit me — I think I saw them maybe once the whole month. The second time I got to see them more often but it was still pretty horrible.

Up until my daughter was in high school, I would say a few hours and that was only a couple of times. Can you believe it?!

Okay, I’m not yet a mother. I just want to assure the mothers out there that whenever your miss your child, your child misses you too…so much. What I miss most whenever I’m away or my mother is away, is the quality time we chat and just chat until she falls asleep and then I’ll go to my room. I love talking to her.

Thank you for sharing him with us. It has been so great and it gives us a chance to bond with him more. Lucian is such a great little guy. We enjoy having Daddy around too and really miss you and Warren.

Three nights. I was able to say our prayers and good nights and that helped me a lot. Logan was 3. It was the first and the longest stretch to date. I would miss too much!!!
