HABA Games ~ Holiday SPLURGE {Review & Giveaway #19}

HABA is a German company well known for their high quality, safe toys. HABA toys are made from hard wood, stained with non-toxic colors and finished with a protective, saliva-resistant, water based varnish for long lasting protection. Besides toys, HABA also has a wide selection of games that grow with children. Most HABA games include multiple game play options so children can play at their level and learn new skills. There are also many games that are cooperative so they don’t pit siblings against each other. Instead they are working together!

We were sent this fun game called Wiggling Cow which retails for $21.59. To start simply stack hay and flower cards and then balance this adorable cow on top. The purpose of the game is to remove the hay/flower cards with a fork without tipping the cow over. The game is intended for ages 4 and up but my 3 year old son was able to play with just a little extra guidance from me. As you can see he took to the game right away and we had lots of fun playing this game together. The cow is just fun to play with on its own! I like how it taught him cause and effect and the high quality of the game pieces. It is definitely not one that will fall apart easily.

Haba also has many other games sure to delight any child. Here are just a couple more that look like fun!

Castle Knights ~ The knights are racing to build the towers before King Duncan gets home! Players use a stretchy band, not their hands, to lift and build different castle towers shown on the picture cards. But watch the timer – you have to move quickly. Build a tower on each of the three levels before the King’s arrival. Cooperative game designed for 2-4 players ages 5 and up. Retails for $24.99

Animal Upon Animal – the Duel ~ Can an octopus sit atop a tiger with a goose on his paws? In this silly game for 2 players, ages 5 and up, anything is possible. Each player starts with 4 different animal shapes. Roll a large die to indicate which animal goes on bottom. Then roll a smaller die to decide which animal shape goes on top. Two more animals to balance make this a battle of time and wits to be the first player to successfully stack all four animals first. Retails for $12.59
