Located outside of Philadelphia, Misikko has emerged as a great resource for comparing and purchasing a variety of professional styling tools. Misikko is not only a place to buy a professional flat iron, you will also find a nice selection of hair dryers, curling irons, hair care and makeup/skin care.
When you think of hair straighteners, you probably think of the well known Hana brand of flat irons. I know I do and yet I had never actually considering purchasing one. I was one of the misinformed consumers who believed that unless you had super frizzy or extremely curly hair you don’t need a flat iron. So I was curious when I was asked to review this bad boy. The Hana Professional Flat Iron 1″ – Pink Edition. Isn’t she a beauty? She retails for $189.99 but is currently on sale for only $119.99. While it is an investment, I’ve learned with many products you get what you pay for. This may be a splurge but one that I found to be well worth it.
Features include an adjustable heat dial from 150-450 degrees, safe damp styling, floating plates to adjust to hair texture, curving plates to straighten, flip or curl hair and a two year warranty. Included is a travel pouch, tin case and silicone mat.
When wet, my hair has a slight curl and the only way to work with it is to style it with a messy, wavy kind of look. I’ve always needed quick hair care solutions so I rarely if ever actually curl it and instead simply blow dry then follow up with some styling products. (I prefer a pomade and light finishing spray.) This is my hair just a little bit damp.
After less than 10 minutes I was able to create a much more polished look with a slight flip under with my Hana Professional. I was surprised just how quick and easy it was and loved that as I straightened, I was also drying my hair. My husband even noticed and complimented the results which actually doesn’t happen often. I look forward to playing around with other styling techniques and using my flat iron to create curls. This will create so much more versatility for me!
My only word of caution is the extremely high heat settings that are available. Since I have thick, healthy hair I did use an extra hot setting and you certainly want to make sure you keep this out of reach of your children as you use it and it cools. If you thought your curling iron of yesteryear got hot you have no idea the heat this thing will pump out. Try 450 degrees! You do however have complete control over the temperature and can choose a much cooler setting if that is what is ideal for your hair type.
