My Tot Clock ~ Holiday SPLURGE {Review & Giveaway #22}

My Tot Clock HeaderMy Tot Clock is the invention of Pamela, a mother who struggled to get her two year old child to sleep and stay asleep once he transitioned to a big boy bed. Sound familiar? After coming to the realization that her son just didn’t know what time it was, she decided to seek out a magic clock that used colors to tell toddlers the time of day. And I’m sure by now you guessed it, she could not find this magic clock and took it upon herself to create her own. (If want to read about the entire process from start to finish I highly recommend reading Our Story. Very interesting!)

My Tot Clock

My Tot Clock is so much more than a clock. Besides being a great bedtime solution meant for ages 2 and up, it also has the following features which are entirely customizable for your child and schedule.

  • Teaches when to go to sleep (blue light) and when to get out of bed (yellow light).
  • Plays bedtime stories, lullabies and white noise before going to sleep if desired.
  • Plays fun wake music as the clock turns yellow if desired.
  • Also has a light blue light for nap time, a red light for timeout and a green light for fun play/positive activity.
  • Can use AC adaptor or batteries
  • Blue light acts as a nightlight
  • Easy to carry handle
  • Programmable sleep times can be manually overridden
  • Fun interchangeable faceplates

Seriously, is there anything this clock can’t do?

my tot clock_featuresI had wanted this for my three year old Lucian. When he was two he was notorious for getting up super early after we transitioned him to a toddler bed. He was immediately fascinated with the different colors and within a day he understood what all the colors meant. So much so that I remember one night he even tried to convince me the light was still yellow even though it was obviously blue, just so he could stay up! Our schedule did make it tougher at the time to benefit from all the features but I can’t say enough good things about this awesome clock.

My Tot Clock LucianAs you can see both of my boys love this clock. They would carry it around the house and push the buttons all day to make it change colors or play music if I would let them. Because of their fascination with it they certainly notice when it changes color and Lucian will immediately comment on it when the light turns blue. He knows it is time to get into bed for story time.

Lucian currently has great sleeping habits and I am fortunate that he stays sleeping through the night but I know I’ll be thankful for the My Tot Clock when Warren moves from his crib to a bed. For now, I’m just happy with all the wonderful features that we use on a daily basis including the night light, lullabies and a clock of course!

My Tot Clock WarrenI think this clock is a fabulous learning tool with many options that can be tailored to your child. How amazing that it took this long for someone to come up with a sleeping solution and a way for toddlers to tell time with colors.

Now I just need two of them so there is no arguing over whose turn it is to push the buttons!

I like the color system that it turns blue when your child is supposed to be sleeping and yellow when they are supposed to get up. I would love to have this to help my child sleep through the night. We still get up a couple of times per night and this would help him understand when to go back to bed and when to get up.

My daughter didn’t sleep through the night until she was 16 months old and even then it wasn’t consistent. This mama bear thought she was going insane, was on the verge of seeking help until I started getting more than 4 hours of uninterrupted sleep a night. It was amazing how much better life looked when I could think clearly. We then struggled with getting her to bed. Summer of 2009 we had the vacation from He** when she wouldn’t sleep in her pack n play. Co sleeping is NOT for me I tell you! Odd thing is not 2 weeks after that vacation she started going to bed smoothly and sleeping through the night on a consistent basis, this was 3 months before she turned 2.

    This clock sounds awesome!!

    My Sob Story:
Whenever I have my godson, he sleeps well through the night.. No big deal. But he goes to bed super early (because of the way that my best friend is [his mama]). And so around 6:00 a.m. he comes into my room, opens my eyelids and says “Are you awake yet?” — Every morning. I suppose it isn’t too terrible, but it’ll certainly wake ya up.

I think the best feature is just the fact that it changes colors depending on nap time or awake time – my daughter JUST BARELY made the transition to her “big girl” bed (which is really just a ‘daybed crib’, we took the side off after she fell out of it one night) And she’s tried to tell us “No, nun-nai” (no sleep!) so a clock like this would be fun, helpful AND make her sleep habits get so they’re regular!

I have 3 kids. My daughter, who is 2, didn’t start sleeping through the night until she was 17 months. We had a new baby a couple of months ago, so it feels like I haven’t slept in years. My 5 year old son is getting up really early and is ditching his nap. We are trying to train him to stay in his room until certain times even if he is just “resting” so that mommy and daddy can sleep.

All my kids love their naps – they need them & I rely on them, but they just hate going TO sleep. Well, my 6 yr old, when she was a toddler was AWFUL. If she didn’t get her nap – she’d be a demon, and if she DID get to sleep – it would have to be very particular. (As in – on my bed, with one of Daddys ties, a watch and her Bunny, sort of thing) Well one day, it was naptime, the usual process of “I want this and that” was going on – and one of her “things” was she wanted the backdoor to be left open (we have a child gate, it was summer – she wanted to hear the birds) so I agreed. Well I went about my house cleaning day & there was a knock at the door – my neighbor had found my daughter wandering down the road because she had piled her teddies up enough to climb OVER the gate, and take off! And me oblivious in the other part of the house!! To top that all off, she was cranky and tired and told my lovely, savior neighbor she “No LIKE you!!” over and over. The back door stayed closed no matter what after that!

For my family not even ONE of my 6 kids would go to bed at a decent time. It was not related to too much napping, late eating or certain food or drink such as caffeine, Or even FEARs of sleeping. I am afraid we just have a bunch of night owls who just simply have it in them to be nocturnal. I was the same as a child and an incurable insomniac still. BOY…losing sleep for 28 years of mothering has really taken its toll with a body, can affect work performance, and definitely steals intimate time. Now with 3 still at home, our household is unchanged. I would have practically sold my SOUL for a chance to try the Tot Clock with my kiddos. I might then have at least ONE picture of me over the years without BAGS under my eyes, AND maybe we would have raised mere geniuses had our kids had uninterrupted sleep. THIS device might have encouraged them more and feel more in power over this, instead of dealing with frustrated parents who had to give in to save our sanity!!!

We now have two tiny grandkids whose parents would LOVE to try this clock. THANKS for the chance to gift it to them!!! My son is in college with little kids and works almost full time. THIS family NEEDS this!!!

I was really very lucky with my kids–don’t remember very many bad ‘go to bed’ times. The worst one was really a ‘get up too early’ story–my older daughter had always slept in until I got her up (this was before her sister arrived), so I wasn’t ever too worried about her getting out of bed early. She was about 4, and quiet as a little mouse, when she broke that good streak with a vengeance. She got into the sewing room, cut out some ‘doll clothes’, and cut her hair–right down to the scalp in a couple of places. She looked really cute with a pixie cut, but after being teased about her boy haircut, has had long hair ever since!

My older son is big on order and following directions. I think my son would really respond to the colors signaling bedtime and time to get out of bed. He always gets up early and wakes us up. I’m hoping that with this he would stay in bed a bit longer each morning.

  293. 293

My personal sob story belongs to my husband and I, as well as our younger son. She suffers from night terrors. It’s tough when he wakes up at 1 or 2 a.m. rambling about nonsense. I’m exhausted to start with because I’m pregnant. It’s so hard to get back to sleep. I feel so bad for my little guy and his being afraid and having bad dreams.

I like the blue and yellow lights to indicate when it’s time to sleep. Seems like my kids don’t want to get up on school days but also don’t know how to sleep in on Saturdays. I’d love anything that would help me with that concept.

    Kathy S says:

Love the idea of the bedtime stories, lullabies or white noise options to help the child soothe themselves to sleep. I used to play classical music (on a record player no less!) for my two kids, and when it ended they’d yell “Mommy…the record is done!” Now I have granddaughters who don’t like to sleep. They want a 24 hour action packed day!

  316. 316
    Paula Harmon says:

I like the white noise feature. It would help my Chubby-huggy sleep because the other 3 older kids always make too much noise and wake her up!

    Katie says:

I like how the color changes. Definately a plus for small kids to know when to stay in bed and when to get up.

  324. 324
    Katie says:

From the day my daughter came home from the hospital she slept through the night, I could lay her in her bed and walk out of the room (my son was a whole different story), I was in heaven. When she was 10 months old we moved to a new house, my heaven days were over. I would lay with her in my bed till she fell a sleep and then try to put her in her crib. I would be a foot from her crib and she would wake up and start screaming I lay her back down on my bed and she was out. I’m still trying to get her in her own bed and she’s 2. Sob Story #1

I like that it’s multi-functional besides being a clock, it has a built-in discipline timer, plays music and is a nightlight! This would help me because my daughter likes to sleep late & wake up early. Maybe the different lights will help her understand when to go to bed/stay in bed!
