The National Milk Mustache ‘got milk?’ Campaign launched a new initiative yesterday called the “Great Gallon Give”. This promotion features actress and mom Rebecca Romijn, who is appearing in her second milk mustache ad with her twin daughters. The new program will give away hundreds of thousands of gallons of milk to help raise awareness of the important role milk plays in building strong families.
The “Great Gallon Give” will also make it possible to help families in need by passing a virtual gallon of milk to friends on Facebook (Facebook.com/MilkMustache). For every virtual gallon passed, $1 will go to Feeding America, the country’s largest network of food banks that serves more than 25 million people facing hunger in this country. In addition, milk processors will be donating thousands of real gallons of milk to local food banks in the Feeding America network.
If you live in Minneapolis you must check out the Great Gallon Give Event tomorrow!
Residents can get a FREE gallon of milk, pose for their own Milk Mustache photo, sample milkshakes and talk to a registered dietitian! A 1,000 gallon donation will be made to the local Feed America food bank.

*Check here to see if the “Great Gallon Give” will be visiting your area. Local events are planned for 20 markets across the country. In total, more than 200,000 gallons of milk will be distributed.

The first 125,000 people to enter the contest will receive a downloadable coupon for a free half gallon of chocolate milk with the purchase of two gallons of any brand of milk.

Milk seems to go super fast in our house! Hubby loves it! I think he drinks atleast a half gallon a day. He uses it in just about everything! I think he mostly enjoys it cause it’s healthy for you and the taste. I drink lactaid because I am lactose intolerant, but I love being able to use to it cook and the many things you can make with it!

what I love about milk is that I am middle age and having issues already with bone loss and osteoporosis. I have been trying to consume more milk to get more calcium to slow it down. People my age need to realize that bone loss occurs decades before we are senior so you need to increase your calcium intake now…not later.

WHat I like the most is the memory of growing up on a farm and KNOWING how important milk is at an early age. I learned to LOVE milk, and especially dunking my mom’s cookies into that white magic. Slugging a glass of ice cold milk with a piece of her award-winning pies or sticky buns was like heaven.
And NOW…it is ME doing the baking and my family all agrees that milk just makes everything taste SWEETER! In every sense of the word! Milk is not just about “doing a body good”…it is about SWEET memories and the ones we are making now too!
