Let’s Grow: Lend a Helping Hand {Review & Giveaway}

Let’s Grow is a new DVD series co-branded by Hit Entertainment and Sprout and will feature six different DVDs through spring 2011. The entire series focuses on areas that preschoolers encounter every day using some of Hit Entertainment’s most loved characters. Each story is connected by live action segments with hosts from Sprouts original Sunny Side Up Show.

The first DVD in the series, Let’s Grow: Lend a Helping Hand debuted in January.

Meet Kelly^sm and Chica^sm, the hosts of TV’s “The Sunny Side Up Show” on the 24-hour preschool channel, Sprout^®.  Join them as they host this special collection of delightful adventures featuring your favorite friends, Barney, Bob the Builder, Thomas & Friends, Fireman Sam and Angelina Ballerina, and discover how quickly things can go from squeaky clean to terribly messy.  Throughout all the stories and with Kelly and Chica’s help, your children will learn that when friends work together, any job can be fun!

Episodes include:

• Thomas & Friends “Dirty Work”
• Barney “Litterbot”
• Bob the Builder “Clean as a Whistle Bristle”
• Fireman Sam “Mother’s Helper”
• Angelina Ballerina “The Ballerina Ragdoll”

Because both my boys are huge Thomas & Friends and Bob the Builder fans it came as no surprise that those were their favorites. My two year old loved Bob the Builder which introduces a new character name Bristle who is a street sweeper. He gets a little over zealous trying to help clean up and ultimately cleans up anything on the ground, including a shop’s outdoor display.

All of the stories use different angles to explain how we all can lend a helping hand from encouraging others, to cleaning up litter. I liked the message in the stories but I really loved how Kelly and Chica tied them all together in between episodes and explained how children could apply these lessons to everyday life.
