Putting together the our shuttle playhouse took a bit longer for my husband since the instructions somehow escaped his attention. He did discover them but only after he had it almost fully assembled. However, he was able to figure it out all on his own. The instructions are now available for download on the homepage so if this were to happen again we could simply print them out from the website.

The boys have loved playing with the shuttle. One of their very favorite things is to hide inside the shuttle and then jump out and scare me! We’ve also gotten creative and turned the shuttle into a fort with a tunnel leading into the entrance. I love that my kids have something that they can really get creative with and pretend they are going into space.

I have asked my three year old to color his shuttle it but he refuses each time I ask. He is convinced that his shuttle needs to stay white and so perhaps that is activity we can do later.

The only thing to remember is that this is a temporary toy. After lots of play for the last 6 weeks we do have slight bends in the doorway. Because you actually walk into the shuttle (see the last picture on the right above) it is a bit hard for adults to enter and makes it something kids hit as they walk it and start to bend. While it is certainly not required, we did add some tape as extra support, especially for when we change its location in our playroom. The cardboard is definitely a heavy duty cardboard but it is still cardboard.

Keep in mind that a space shuttle certainly isn’t typical and there is nothing like it in stores for something that is permanent.  I love that my kids have something that is unique and different. They love going into space!
