I was embarrassed to admit that until recently my toaster was from college and in a rather sad state. And I am equally embarrassed to admit that my coffee loving self was using (wait for it and then gasp) a $20 el cheapo coffee maker that had a single button. On or off. No, that is not an exaggeration. Just ask my coffee addicted mother-in-law who was forced to wait forever and a day for her coffee to brew and suffer through no automatic start or shut off.
And now I own this black and silver pretty thing. Oh yeah. And sometimes I can’t believe I tortured myself with something so basic.
This is the KitchenAid 14 cup glass carafe coffee maker. Yes, this bad boy makes 14 cups. (My mother in law will be pleased on her next trip to stay I’m certain!)
14 Cup Glass Carafe Coffee Maker with Selectable Auto Shutoff feature (0-4 hours), Time Since Brewed Feature which displays when the last pot was made, a Removable Water Tank for easy access to fill with fresh water, 1-4 Cup Brew Cycle which automatically adjusts the brewing process for maximum flavor when brewing small quantities, and Pause and Serve Feature which stops the brew cycle to allow for pouring a cup of coffee before the entire pot is complete
I also received the KitchenAid Blade Coffee Grinder. Up until this point if we wanted freshly ground beans we had to use the in-store coffee grinder. Now we can get the benefits of freshly ground coffee quickly and easily at home!
The grinder can grind enough beans for up to 12 cups of coffee, with etchings on the inside for easy measurement, and has fingertip control. Meaning this grinder has no buttons but rather pushing down on the cap starts the grinder and gives you full control. The enclosed manual gives you recommended amount of seconds to hold it down to get the optimal results, depending upon how many beans you are grinding.

With this grinder you can get fine enough grounds if you want drip coffee or coarse for French Press brewing.
The coffeemaker has gold toned filter which gives you the option of using disposable coffee liners or this reusable one. I have found this gold filter to work great and love the idea of not buying any more liners! It does require a bit more clean up but nothing more than throwing out the used grounds like usual and then rinsing out the filter.
This coffee maker is full of some amazing features. Just a few of them include a removable water tank, pause and serve feature, ability to stop the brewing process midway to grab yourself a cup of coffee, auto shut off and knowing the time since it brewed.

But besides these features I’ve fallen in love with the overall design. The look, the feel of how easy it is to add the brew basket and close the door, the way the carafe feels in my hand.
Even my husband who always seemed to spill when pouring coffee can pour spill-free with this carafe. I love the accuracy of the pour and how easy it is to add the carafe back to the coffee maker. It just feels good to handle the pot.
But of course the main requirement of any coffee maker is that it can make a fabulous cup of coffee. And this one certainly can whether your preference is for a stronger or less potent brew. And so happy with my new coffee maker and grinder set and you can bet that my house guests will be appreciating the upgrade as much as we do!
And now for the extra fun part. The chance to win both the coffee maker and grinder! Don’t forget to enter to win the KitchenAid 4 Slot One-Touch Toaster giveaway which ends Friday, 5/27!
