With warmer weather finally here, my boys have inevitably started questions about when they can play in the pool or go to the beach. And I hate to break it to them but that won’t be happening yet in Minnesota. The still frigid waters and under 70 degree temperatures means it won’t be warm enough any time soon for sprinklers and water slide. But a great alternative for them to still get in some water play is the Little Tikes Anchors Away Pirate Ship.
Features include:

pouring water into the crows nest and watch everything spin

The Little Tikes Pirate ship is ideal for water play outside that might get my boys a bit wet, won’t leave them soaking and cold when the weather isn’t optimal for swimming. It also doesn’t take up a ton of water and will still allow them to cool off on hot days. For now, I’ve just been adding a couple of buckets of hot water to the cold water from the hose. And because it is loaded with plenty of fun features and toys, it keeps them entertained for long periods of time.
The water fountain in the center keeps water flowing with the touch of a button through spinners or you can turn it off and let the water come down naturally. The cannon includes a squirt gun and is a very cool addition. However, ours did break after a couple of uses. Thankfully Little Tikes has a great policy on broken parts so I’ll be calling them shortly to get a replacement.
Other fun features including an anchor that goes up and down, two character figurines, boat, tube, slides, buck, shark squirter and more! Warren added some of his small plastic frogs to the ship and enjoyed fishing them out with his bucket and having them ride in the ship. Much like the bathtub, this water table allows for free creative play and sparks their imaginations!

I’m very happy to add this set into our outdoor play toys and I especially like that this is a stand alone water table. I’ve heard complaints from others that the sand and water combination tables are much hard to keep clean and I can see why. With no sand being introduced, clean up is much like that of emptying the bathtub.
My only complaints with this table is the broken cannon and I wish that the figures were better suited for the table. They look adorable but can tip the boat over because of their size/weight if they aren’t added just right and the hands can’t actually grip the steering wheel. But all in all, these are small complaints and we really love our new pirate ship!
