Total Mom Challenge From Total Gym Week 4 and 5 #TotalMom

These past couple of weeks have flown by with my Total Gym. I tried out the Pilates workout routine to change things up a bit just as I said I would. I’ve been switching off between Pilates and the Startup program. I would say that this is my favorite part of the Total Gym. The Pilates workout is very different than a traditional workout and yet really makes you work. I did however notice a big difference in the time commitment as the video runs 62 minutes. Thankfully the DVD is broken up into sections so I do about half at a time to avoid overdoing it to start. I look forward to building up to the entire workout. I love that so many options are included in the gym for both men and women!

My husband is still loving the system and always feels great after a workout. He is really pushing himself and really appreciates not having to go to the gym as often. He says he can really see a different in his arms and abs especially.

I had a fellow blogger email me and ask me honestly how I feel about the Total Gym as she was considering making the investment. I felt very comfortable recommending the Total Gym as I’m actually quite impressed with the system itself.  Because you are stretching with each movement and taking your body with you as you move, it seems less stressful than a traditional gym system. And it also requires a lot less stretching after the workout because of it.

Just like any workout system you run the risk of just letting it sit. But if you are motivated to work out you will use the Total Gym and love it! One of her biggest concerns is storage as she lives in an apartment building and that is both my favorite and least favorite part of the gym. The Total Gym really does fold very compact and actually doesn’t take that long to set up. I can be ready to go in under a minute and it doesn’t take any longer than that to fold the system either.

However, during this process it is very important to watching carefully where your fingers are located. I have pinched myself and boy did that hurt! My gym is located in our playroom and it is dangerous to be left out for kids to play on. If you are constantly setting up and taking down your gym as I do you do run the risk of hurting yourself if you are distracted. I do want to stress however that a video and numerous stickers on the Total Gym explain how to properly handle the gym.

So far I’ve lost several pounds but more than that, I’m gaining strength and confidence with my workouts and that is worth more than any number!

Looking forward to giving you another update next week!

I think it’s so true that you have to be motivated. You get out what you put into a piece of equipment. I’m glad your experience has been a good one!

I need something too. I’m not so concerned with losing weight but I need to tone and strength train. Hubby works in another town so he is able to go to the gym every day. It’s just not feasible for me to do so. I am going to look into this as it may be something for him to try too and save us the gym fees.

good for you! This post really motivates me to get up and get moving. The Total Gym would not be an ideal option for me right now but perhaps in the future.
