I can’t believe how far we’ve gone in the Total Mom Challenge from Total Gym. It has already been six weeks!
In that time it has become very apparent where my strengths are and my weaknesses. And my very favorite exercises are those that just feel extra good while doing them, probably because they are the easiest for me. I enjoy anything involving legs but my very favorite are those that utilize my back and shoulders such as the pull up and shoulder press. I can’t believe I’m saying “pull up” and “favorite” in the same sentence, unless of course it also included the word “not”.
Honestly, it isn’t the typical pull up with the Total Gym. Because the bench moves with you, there is less resistance so I can actually complete the reps and yet really feel as though I’ve worked the muscles.
My arms and abs have needed the most help. My triceps especially were weak and I would struggle through the reps more than any other exercise. I’d shake and grunt and generally hate them. And while I still struggle, the jello arms I felt with my first few workouts have subsided. Woot! I’m still too scared to try the ab crunch workout my husband loves but I know I’m going to need to test the waters here soon to challenge myself and get over that fear!
While when I started my main goal wasn’t to lose weight (although I wanted to) my focus has begun to shift to simply being healthier! To feel good about my body and increase my strength and improve my overall health. With each workout I’m actually living that goal. And wow, does that feel good!
Looking forward to giving you another update next week!

Congrats on your progress to date!
ugh sounds horrible but i’m sure the payoff will be worth it!:)
i’ve always wanted to try one of these things, although some of the weight machines at the gym scare me because i don’t know how to use them:)
Congrats. I would love to have one. I need, badly, to work on my old lady flaps under my arms. Lol. I had to stick my arm out the moving car window the other day and it flapped in the wind! Oh my gosh. Luckily I was alone in the car and no one was on the road or I would have been horrified. Lol.
Congrats on the progress! I would love to be in this challenge
