Beethoven’s Christmas Adventure on DVD {$100+ Movie Package Giveaway} CLOSED

I have to admit that while I’ve heard of the series of Beethoven’s movies, I’d never actually watched one until now. Since the first came out in the early 90′s, I was just starting to move away from children’s movies.  Now that I have two little boys of my own it was time to watch one for myself! Beethoven’s Christmas Adventure was a perfect way to kick off the holiday season with my 5 year old son Lucian.

Tis the season to celebrate with everyone’s favorite St. Bernard, Beethoven, in an all-new, heartwarming holiday adventure where the hilarious canine speaks for the first time! When Henry the elf (Kyle Massey, TV’s That’s So Raven) flees the North Pole with Santa’s sleigh and his magical bag of toys, he crash-lands the precious cargo in a suburban neighborhood tree. But when the bag ends up in the wrong hands, it’s up to heroic Beethoven and his teenage pal, Mason (Munro Chambers, TV’s Degrassi: The Next Generation), to rescue Henry, fetch Santa’s toys and save Christmas for children everywhere. Featuring an all-star cast, including Tom Arnold as the voice of Beethoven, it’s a barking good time for the whole family!

So what did we think of Beethoven’s Christmas Adventure? My 5 year old loved it! In this installment the dogs can talk and he thought the voices were so hilarious he couldn’t stop giggling. In fact, when their was some potty humor by the dogs, Lucian actually had a fit of giggles where he couldn’t stop. As the mom, I first rolled my eyes a bit at this simply because I avoid anything that gets my son excited about potty talk. (It really doesn’t take much.) But when I saw him enjoying himself so much I couldn’t help but smile myself. I didn’t care for the line where Beethoven refers to the bad guy as a “dumb” criminal simply because I avoid using words like dumb and stupid.

Was the movie a bit silly? Of course. But it is geared towards kids and it made for some quality cuddle time on the couch, just me and my son while his dad and brother were out of town visiting family. Overall the movie had a strong family message so I’m willing to overlook a couple of scenes I wish weren’t there.
