Because the two weaves are slightly different weights, a waffle weave is thinner and more defined than a plusher terry, getting the right balance between the two sides of a simultaneously woven product was an ongoing effort. It had to, of course, look beautiful, with an even waffle pattern on the outside, and a soft terry on the interior. But just as importantly, it had to be able to withstand washing and drying, and ensure that both sides would react to dryer heat the same way. It took two years of weaving, testing and adjustments to get the balance just right.

I have always loved the big and fluffy robes at luxury hotels and spas. Something about the oversized and heavy robe always seems extra cozy and special to wear so I was especially excited to have my own at home. The Waffle Terry definitely does not disappoint. Made from 100% ring-spun Turkish cotton it is one size that is generously fitted and accommodates sizes 5′ 4” to 6′ 2” and from 140 to 240 lbs.

I’ve been using the robe after showering for the last several weeks and at first it felt a bit heavy and too big. But after just a few uses I discovered that I actually looked forward to be literally enveloped in soft warmth afterwards. It really does feel luxurious and I find I put off getting dressed so I can wear the robe longer. I have on occasion worn it on a chilly morning and I instantly feel warm snuggled within the robe.
