When I think of all the ways in which we watch movies, it really amazes me. From streaming from our X-box to watching on our iPods, there is no shortage of ways to see our favorite flicks.

Now Walmart has made it even easier to take our favorite movies we already own and access them on the go with our mobile devices or in the comfort of our homes with our Blu-ray player. How much does this cost?

  • $2 per DVD to convert to Standard Definition (‘SD’)
  • $2 per Blu-ray™ disc to convert to High Definition with Dolby Digital Plus Surround Sound (‘HDX’)
  • $5 per DVD to convert and upgrade to HDX

Imagine having access to your favorite movies on your next family vacation or visit with your in-laws. Now you can!

The Disc-to-Digital Service is easy and takes just three easy steps:

  1. Gather the DVDs and Blu-ray movies you can’t live without from your home collection & head to your local Walmart store. The list of eligible movies is available on www.vudu.com. Six major studios are participating with more than 4000 titles as of now – with the list growing each week!
  2. Bring your discs to the photo department where an Associate will add the movies to your account on www.vudu.com (the process only takes a few minutes and the Associate can help you set up a vudu account if you don’t already have one!)
  3. Enjoy your favorite movies by accessing them on more than 300 internet-connected devices, like your phone, tablet or laptop!

We already had a VUDU account that we used often with our Xbox 360 so the process for us was even easier. My husband Joe went through and picked out some of our favorite DVDs and looked them up on vudu.com to see if they were available. Unfortunately many of our children’s favorites were not on the list because Disney/Pixar wasn’t included. Our only complaint with this service is the limited selection. Hopefully they’ll be adding more studios very soon!

After creating a Disc to Digital movie list on vudu.com, he printed it out and took the list along with the DVDs to our local Walmart Sueprcenter. Because this is a relatively new service, the staff wasn’t as familiar with the process but by the time he was done with his shopping he was able to pick up our personal DVDs. A barcode was added to the printed movie list and Joe was able to pay for it at the main checkouts. When he returned home and logged into our VUDU account, the movies were already showing up in his account.

My husband was thrilled to be able to upgrade our standard DVDs to high definition and he loves the overall picture and sound quality that comes with it.
