Several years ago my husband built a wooden platform for a gazebo. We wanted an outdoor space where we could entertain guests and just relax. Unfortunately our home didn’t have a deck or patio when we purchased it 10 years ago. While our backyard is gorgeous during the summer months, it isn’t anywhere close to being level enough for furniture to sit directly on top. The platform was a perfect solution.

Home Depot Envirotiles DigIn Project Prep 1For the past couple of years I’ve really wanted that space to be more inviting and comfortable. We’ve learned the hard way that while the top of our gazebo does a great job of protecting from the elements, the sides do not. (The cover is currently in our shed for winter storage.) And while I’ve always envisioned a soft rug for the gazebo, it simply won’t work as it would be constantly getting wet when it rains. It isn’t practical for us to always have to remember to pull the rug or furniture within our gazebo each time we have bad weather.

You can even get creative and use them in spaces like your basement.

Because they can handle the elements and don’t need to be removed for the winter, they feel permanent. And yet because they use a clip system to install them, we can easily take them out, move them around and do whatever we want with them afterwards.

As a bonus they are made from recycled rubber tires and environmentally friendly.  With every two Envirotiles purchased, a tire is being saved from a landfill!

Sweet.

I love when I can find a solution to my problem that also helps the environment.

Home Depot Envirotiles DigIn Project Prep 4I stopped off a couple of weeks ago to make sure The Home Depot had them in stock. I did find them but of course they were snow covered. We were itching to start the project but we knew we’d have to wait a bit. We can’t wait until our grass starts growing and we can go from a brown, dead grass with leaves scattered about to a nicely finished landscape complete with Envirotiles, new furniture and our enclosed gazebo.

We’re taking this project on this week so watch for more posts as it all comes together!

    1. I can’t either! Although I’ll admit I have a pretty good idea since he is just finishing up the project. 🙂 I’m looking forward to decorating the space to make it more inviting and seeing it all come together!

    1. I do too Colleen! I better get cracking at the second post with my shopping trip so I get closer to the actual reveal! My hubby is just about done with the project and then it is MY turn in the space.

    1. Me either! We decided that my Mother’s Day gift would be me going shopping for some new chairs and some flowers. Can’t wait to brighten up the space! 🙂
